Mark Niemierko on bridal trends for 2013


Hallo everyone!

With designers showing their spring 2013 collections at Barcelona Bridal Week, New York Bridal Week and at the White Gallery, I decided to put together a blog post on bridal trends for 2013. And who better to turn for advice on the matter than the UK's foremost wedding and event planner, Mark Niemierko?

With over ten years experience in the events industry, Mark's name has become synonymous with knowledge and expertise, and with an unfailing commitment to excellence. His signature style is chic and luxurious.

Over to Mark for an authoritative rundown of that to expect in 2013:





Gold

Gold is seriously in. Last week alone we signed off 3 sets of client 
invitations - all 3 of them have gold lettering.  
We are even 
having gold cutlery at one wedding.  
Done in a subtle understated way,
gold doesn't need to be brash or ostentatious.  It can actually look 
retro and chic.







Monochrome

Love or hate her, Kim Kardashian's wedding had a huge impact on wedding 
trends.  
Brides are constantly making a reference to her monochrome 
wedding ceremony.  
I'm a fan of putting black and whites with 
silver or greys to soften the harshness.  
So for example, silver table 
linen with white flowers in black vases is a chic take on the 
monochrome look.






Lace

Another celebrity, or Royal, influence I should say.  
From Monique 
Lhullier's Catherine dress to lace trimmed veils,
 the Duchess of 
Cambridge's choice of a lace wedding dress last year has heavily 
influenced 2012 brides.






His and Her Desserts

Have 2 different desserts for your final course.  
Something fresh and 
light for the ladies such as sorbets, 
to a more rich and heavy dessert for the gentlemen.  
It makes for a fun talking point and I'm sure some 
flirting may take place as couples share their desserts!

Help your guests get over their hangover with some essential items in 
their hotel rooms.

Lea-Ann Belter on bridal trends for 2013


Hallo everyone!

I'm really delighted to introduce another fabulous post featuring some of the wedding industry's leading figures on bridal trends for 2013.

On our studio wall here in Toronto, sketches for Lea-Ann Belter Bridal's 2013 collection hang ready for production.
We've got gowns of Chantilly and French Alençon lace, English net...all soft and romantic!






While that feel is often reflected in my gowns, like many bridal designers preparing for next season,
I'm increasingly drawn to a more shabby-chic yet modern aesthetic.





Lace, which has been an ongoing trend, harmonizes beautifully with this sort of dreamy style,
so it will certainly continue to be seen on runways far and wide.




As for silhouettes, expect to see pared-down interpretations of classic shapes –
A-lines, mermaids, column, and bias-cut sheaths.

Gioia Mia Loves Hill Wedding Stationery


Hallo everyone!


One of the great pleasures of working on a photo shoot is the chance to collaborate with other industry creatives, and to be able to gain a bit of an insight into their own processes.


I was very excited to have Caroline Hill, from Hill Wedding Stationery, design and make all the stationery for our shoot. I wanted to give her the chance to tell me a little more about her business, and about her design process.



Can you tell me about your business?


The business was set up in 2006 whilst planning and researching my own wedding. I found sourcing the stationery very difficult, as I couldn’t find any inspirational designs, so I utilized my own fashion and design background to venture into the wedding stationery field.


I like to think we offer invitations with a creative flair which give a feel of the whole wedding style, we also offer a bespoke service so can work with the bride and groom closely to achieve the desired look and feel.




What did you make for the shoot?


I supplied stationery for the shoot, I wanted to give inspiration and to show that the stationery can be linked to the whole wedding styling such as dress, venue, flowers etc.



Can you tell me a little about the design process? What was your inspiration? How did you decide on on the colours and the details?

I began researching the fashion and style of the 1930’s and the 1950’s, which were the eras which I knew the whole shoot wanted to portray.


The 1930s are thought of as glamorous and sensuous, so I tried to depict the elegance in the invitations.








For the 1950’s influence invitations I used vintage style typewriter keys and a quirky red 50’s telephone. I wanted to show the pretty retro styling of this time.





The colours were matched to the Flossy and Dossy dress colours which were to be featured in the shoot. I wanted to use the same palette to co-ordinate well with the whole image.


What did you enjoy most about the shoot?


I loved collaborating with other professionals and being involved in the whole process and of course seeing the final fantastic images!

What are you working on next?

I’m looking into the spring fashion trends and will be designing new collections based around these very soon. I also hope to be involved in more photo shoots with this fabulous team.
